AMENDING THE BYLAWS
- Homework is not to be completed during club meetings.
- Side-conversations and other distractions while advisors, officers, Kiwanians, guest speakers, or other meeting leaders are talking is prohibited.
- All members are to be treated with the utmost respect.
- All members are expected to participate in meeting activities and discussions.
- All members are to follow rules 1-4 and those stated on the Code of Conduct which they signed upon joining the New Albany High School Key Club.
- Failure to comply with these rules and the Code of Conduct will result in a warning, followed by a request to leave the meeting if necessary.
- In the case that a member leaves the meeting due to misconduct, this will be counted as an unexcused absence.
- Repeated failure (3 or more instances) to comply with these rules and the Code of Conduct will result in loss of membership to the New Albany High School Key Club.
- Failure to comply with these rules and the Code of Conduct will result in a warning, followed by a request to leave the meeting if necessary.
- No member may sign up for a service project and fail to show up and/or participate.
- No-show’s are excused in the following instances only:
- If there is a valid reason for not being able to attend AND all of the officers and the project and/or committee chairman is notified of the absence and reason a minimum of 24 hours ahead of time
- If a parental/family situation inhibits attendance as long as officers are notified as soon as possible
- In the case of an emergency
- Repeated failure (more than 1 instance) to comply with this rule will result in loss of membership to the New Albany High School Key Club.
- No-show’s are excused in the following instances only:
COMMITMENT TO SERVICE
- Every member must complete a minimum of (10) service hours per semester in order to maintain their membership
- Members who join the club late (past the due date for charter fees) will have a pro-rated service hour requirement according to the amount of school quarters that have passed at the time that they join:
- For every quarter that has passed since a new member joins, their semester service hour requirement will be reduced by (5) hours.
- A quarter does not count as passing until after interim periods, so if a new member joins mid-quarter, prior to interims, their service hour requirement will not be reduced
- Failing to complete the (10) hour semesterly service requirement will result in loss of membership to the New Albany High School Key Club.
- The Vice President of the New Albany High School Key Club is responsible for giving progress reports to each member (4-5) weeks prior to the end of the semester
OFFICERS
- The Board of Directors is comprised of the President(s), Vice President(s), Secretary, Treasurer, Bulletin Editor, Historian, and (1) class representative from each grade.
- The Executive Board is comprised of the President(s), Vice President(s), Secretary, Treasurer, and club advisor.
- For matters concerning the entire club, the issue must be voted upon by the entire Board of Directors. Each director is entitled to one vote.
- In the case of a tie, an advisor or Kiwanian may act as a tiebreaker
- All officers are required to fulfill their duties as assigned to them and defined by Key Club International and the New Albany High School Key Club
- Failure to do so or inadequate performance may result in impeachment with a majority vote by the Board of Directors
- The Executive Board reserves the right to call an emergency Executive meeting or Board of Directors meeting at any time per majority vote by the Executive Board
- The club advisor reserves the right to override any decision made by the Board of Directors per discussion with the Executive Board.
- Board of Directors meetings are mandatory by the entire Board of Directors.
- Officers are allowed to miss at most (3) meetings, unexcused, per semester.
- Absences will not be counted in the case of emergency.
- Failure to comply with this rule will result further action by the remaining members of the Board of Directors.

AWARDS & RECOGNITION
- Distinguished Graduate: Recognition at Celebration of Excellence; golden Key Club medallion to wear at graduation; photograph in the New Albany High School Key Club annual scrapbook
- Available to seniors only
- Senior must complete a minimum of 30 hours of service in their senior year
- All 30 hours must be completed during the member's senior year
- All 30 hours must be completed and logged with the New Albany High School Key Club
- Service hours that were not logged during New Albany High School Key Club service projects and volunteer opportunities will not be counted towards Distinguished Graduate status
- Distinguished Member: Recognition at the annual end-of-year banquet; certificate of recognition; photograph in the New Albany High School Key Club annual scrapbook.
- Available to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors
- Member must complete a minimum of 30 hours of service during the given school year
- All 30 hours must be completed during the given school year
- All 30 hours must be completed and logged with the New Albany High School Key Club
- Service hours that were not logged during New Albany High School Key Club service projects and volunteer opportunities will not be counted towards Distinguished Member status
- Member must attend a minimum of (1) Kiwanis Club meeting
- Proof of attendance can be provided by brining an official agenda from the meeting attended
- Member must attend a minimum of (1) Ohio Division 10 East Divisional meeting.
- Proof of attendance can be provided by brining an official agenda from the meeting attended
- Other awards or forms of recognition may be awarded per approval by the Executive Board, advisor, and/or Kiwanians.
- In order to be an official chartered member of Key Club, you must abide by all the rules listed in the above bylaws.
- These bylaws are agreed to upon entering the New Albany High School chapter of Key Club and signing the Code of Conduct agreement.
- All members must complete the required ten hours of service per semester (unless modified on a case by case basis) in order to remain a member of the New Albany High School Key Club.
- All members of Key Club must abide by the expected conduct mentioned above or else membership to the club will be revoked.
AMENDING THE BYLAWS
- Any concerns about the bylaws by any members of the Board of Directors or any Kiwanians must be brought before the Board of Directors to be addressed.
- Changes can be made to the bylaws with a two/thirds majority vote for the change among the Board of Directors.
- Changes to the bylaws cannot be arbitrary, and must only be brought before the board because of a legitimate concern regarding their effectiveness.
